Paper candles - New Year's composition

On New Year's Eve, we arrange candles around the apartment, decorate everything with garlands and sparkling balls. Perfectly safe small candles can be made with children from paper with their own hands. Such a handicraft will definitely need a child for a dollhouse to simulate a real festive interior.
After this detailed and clear lesson you will learn how to create interesting crafts in the technique of folding paper strips. It can be a whole New Year's composition of several festive figures. The whole candle - both the wick and the flame - will be paper, and therefore safe.
To make the crafts, prepare:

• colored paper;
• glue;
• scissors;
• a ruler and a pencil;
• cardboard.

How to make a New Year composition with candles

1. Prepare paper for New Year's creativity. From the prepared sheets you need to cut strips about 1 cm wide. for 1 candle you will need 2 strips of the same length and width. The color can be one or use multicolored pieces for a more cheerful craft. Initially cut out 2 strips and prepare the glue.

2. Carefully glue the ends of the two strips at right angles, matching the two ends without extending beyond the borders. Press the glue-smeared strips together with your fingers and hold for a few seconds, waiting for the glue to set. You should do this every time you start to create the body of the candle. It doesn't matter what color paper you use.

3. Next, begin zigzag folding. When the glue dries, the strips will hold together well. Fold one side of the resulting right angle in the opposite direction, overlapping the second strip, then fold and overlap the other side of the angle.

4. Continue weaving in the same order. Bend the side of the corners one by one, gradually they will be shortened. And after the work there will be a braid of paper, which will become the body of the future candle.

5. Go all the way around, folding the sides of the corner. Glue the remaining ends as well, waiting for the paper to set. Press the blank with your fingers and release it. In front of you there is a blank, as if a small spring, which is easily compressed with a slight pressure, then immediately unclenched.

6. Using bright orange and red paper, make an oblong candle flame that looks like a petal. To make it more convincing, make the inner strip brighter than the outer border. Leave small tabs at the bottom (at the base), which will allow you to easily glue the wick in place in the future.

7. Glue on the wick. Grease the lower part of the tabs with glue. Press to the end of the colored spring, leave it for a while. The candle is ready. It turned out to be interesting - moving, like a pudding.

8. Cut an island out of cardboard. Make several colored or identical candles. Glue the ornate arrangement to the heavy paper base.

It's ready. Shake it, the candles will move interestingly, as if they were springs.
