Corrugated cardboard can be 2.5-5 millimeters thick. Three-layer corrugated board with a thickness of 1.8 millimeters or less is called micro corrugated board.

The size of the "waves" and the thickness is the basis for the application of these materials.
Both materials are used in the production of packaging, due to their strength and rigidity, they are used as transportation containers. Such containers are used for packaging wine products, cell phones, dishes, household appliances and other goods.

The material distinguishes the quality of the flat layers (by color - white, coated, brown). White is made of white, high-quality paper, while brown is based on low-quality paper with gray color.

Micro corrugated board (E class) is recognized as the packaging material of the twenty-first century. With its elegance and excellent mechanical properties, this material is gaining a reliable position in the world market in the production of packaging and containers.

Recently, the manufacture and use of containers made of micro corrugated cardboard has grown many times over. This material is used in the Russian market in the production of individual packaging, it is becoming increasingly popular.

With a thickness close to that of ordinary cardboard, it has a number of advantages:

- the container is light, but more durable than conventional cardboard, the goods inside are better protected - less susceptible to mechanical damage;
- the material is suitable for smaller packaging, e.g. in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical and food industries, as well as for larger goods;
- It is also suitable for making very small boxes. When making them out of plain cardboard, only thin grades are suitable, and therefore not strong;
- its design possibilities allow you to make almost masterpieces of packaging, for example, for gifts.

These features are utilized in the creation of structures for advertising, up to and including shop windows. It is also more environmentally friendly and cheaper than traditionally used materials.

Despite its obvious advantages over conventional cardboard, it has only recently begun to take a leading place among packaging materials. Many household, personal and industrial goods are still packaged in the familiar cardboard boxes.

Not the least role in this is played by the conservatism of manufacturers, the desire to save money on packaging material.

Cardboard containers and packaging, compared to micro corrugated cardboard, have significant disadvantages that outweigh the savings of using cardboard containers:

- rapid loss of appearance;
- susceptible to deformation during transportation;
- low presentability;
- short-lived.

Manufacturers, whose appearance of packaging and their own image, convenience for the buyer are not in the last place, have already taken care of eliminating all the above-mentioned disadvantages of the packaging of their products and use the material, which has practically no marked disadvantages.

At the same time, it is a promising, inexpensive type of material for packaging, characterized in comparison with cardboard packaging by increased strength, which, combined with other advantages, makes it the most suitable for containers and packaging.

In its price category, micro corrugated board has no obvious competitors in the packaging material environment, excluding conventional corrugated board or three-layer corrugated board, which does not achieve such appeal.

Many categories of goods sell well in cellophane bags and cardboard boxes. It is worth noting that a number of items that are used periodically (household goods, tools, sporting goods, seasonal toys) require packaging for storage when not in use.

In these cases, a beautiful package made of this material will come in handy.
